Level 1 in BTEC Foundation Award in Professional Development (Urban/Freestyle Football)
BTEC Foundation in Professional Development is delivered in partnership with Sporting Chances
This qualification has two units leading to a Level 1 in BTEC Foundation Award in Professional Development in Urban/Freestyle football.
Unit 1: Freestyle and Performance
This unit will introduce the concept of Freestyle football as a sport and will allow learners to develop basic skills needed to be able to demonstrate a basic level of performance as an Urban Freestyler.
To achieve this unit a learner must:
1. Understand balance and co-ordination and their importance to the athlete
2. Demonstrate the skills of touch and control and understand their importance
3. Understand the different aspects of freestyle performance and be able to engage with a group of people
Unit 2: Professionalism
This unit introduces learners to core behaviours/attitudes (professionalism (as demonstrated by professional athletes)) that are fundamental in an individual making it as a professional athlete and those that do not.
This unit is not a coaching unit and therefore it does not focus on a learners sporting ability. The unit focuses on developing a learner’s ability to develop softer skills (non sporting ability) that are essential in becoming a professional athlete (determination, focus, self sacrifice, dedication etc). Once understood learners will then be able to transfer these behaviours/attitudes and apply them within a personal or professional situation.
To achieve this unit a learner must:
1 Describe the attributes of professionalism and how they link to professional behaviour
2 Understand 'Professional Conduct' and its importance in other peoples' perception
3 Understand the concept of 'Transferable Skills' and how they can be used to achieve goals
